On May 30-31, Our own Wayne "Newsninja2012" Dupree travels to Baton Rouge, LA to cover and participate in the @large conference. @large is a one and a half day conference for black conservatives interested in engaging in the political process. The conference will be held May 30-31, 2013, at Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge, La.
The goal of this conference is to inspire, motivate, and encourage black conservatives to get involved in politics and build a constituency within their communities. The desire is to inform these conservatives on the most valuable resources for civic engagement and public office – equipping them with targeted, strategic and provocative messaging, and getting them in front of people who can supply the financial resources to push that messaging into the public discussion. We are striving to lay the foundation for black conservatism to spread into small and large communities alike, and give people the tools needed to build this foundation. We want to make this an annual event, and perhaps build something larger as time goes along.
The conference will include prominent, conservative black speakers, workshops and discussions on various campaign disciplines such as fundraising and messaging, networking, and a showing of Rev. C.L. Bryant’s documentary "Runaway Slave." Reverend Bryant is the headliner for the event.
